What the Mac app stores on your Mac

Where the Mac app keeps your sign-in, settings, offline actions, widget data, and log, and what it never records.

Your projects, sessions, and documents live in your Qufy account. The Mac app keeps only what it needs to work on this Mac, in the places below.

Your sign-in: in the macOS Keychain, as the item with service studio.qufy.desktop and account session. If the Keychain refuses it, the sign-in is kept in memory only until you quit Qufy.

In ~/Library/Application Support/studio.qufy.desktop: qufy-time.json holds your app settings and the actions waiting to sync (project ids, times, and notes), with no sign-in token. widget.json holds what the widgets show: project names, amounts, and your last sessions. Both files can be read only by your Mac user account.

The log: ~/Library/Logs/studio.qufy.desktop/qufy.log (moved to qufy.old.log when it reaches 256 KB). It records start-up steps, load times, sign-in steps, Keychain and sign-out results, and window errors. It never records tokens or notes.

macOS also keeps caches for the app's window in ~/Library/Caches and ~/Library/WebKit/studio.qufy.desktop.

Good to know

  • Links that start with qufy:// from a browser or another app can only open Qufy. They cannot start, stop, or change your timer.
  • The widget is sandboxed by macOS and can read only its one file, widget.json.
  • Signing out removes your sign-in from the Keychain. To remove everything else, follow the steps to uninstall the app.
