On the website, Qubi sits in Home's paste card. It looks at the field while you type, puts its glasses on when you paste a client's message, and thinks while it plans the job. It also shows up when a list is empty, on your first paid invoice, and on a page that can't be found.
In the Mac and Windows apps, Qubi floats on your screen: it shows the timer while you track, tells you about client news and payments, and opens Ask Qufy when you click it.
Steps
- 1
To rename Qubi or change its color, open Settings and choose “Your companion”.
- 2
Type a name in “Name”: 2 to 20 letters, digits, and spaces, in any language. Leave it empty to keep Qubi. The preview waves when the name changes.
- 3
Pick one of the ten colors under “Color”. The shape stays the same.
- 4
Press “Save changes”. “Reset to Qubi” brings back the name Qubi and the original lavender.
Good to know
- Saying hello, in the Mac and Windows apps: Qubi welcomes you the first time Qufy opens each day and says a short hello now and then. Never while you type, while an app is full screen, or while the screen is locked. Turn it off in the app's Settings with “Say hi now and then”.
- Hiding, in the apps: right-click Qubi (Control-click on a Mac) and choose “Hide for 1 hour”, “Hide until tomorrow”, or “Hide always”. The app's Settings bring it back with “Show Qubi”. The timer shortcut keeps working while Qubi is hidden.
- What Qubi reads, and when: on the website, nothing of its own; it reacts only to what you do on the page. In the apps, it shows your timer and your client news from your account, and Ask Qufy reads only what you give it (the text you select when you press the shortcut, what you copied when you click Qubi and choose to use it, or what you paste or drop), only at that moment. In the background the apps notice only that something was copied, never what.
- Only you see Qubi, with your name and color. Your clients never see it: not on client links, PDFs, or emails. Public pages always show the original lavender Qubi.
- The website uses your new name and color right away. The Mac and Windows apps use them from a coming update.
- Qubi keeps still when your system asks for less motion.
